Google released its newest algorithm Penguin; they have a thing for naming them after black and white animals.  What does this mean for you, your company and more importantly your search engine ranking and how you manage your SEO?  We are always searching for the most relevant key words, changing and updating our website to make it the most effective it can be.  Web 2.0 has quickly become the normal operating environment.  Long gone are the days of static websites and quarterly updates.  We constantly work to find the most relevant and interesting content for our website, blog and social media.  Staying on top of it is difficult.  Where do you find content?  How do you determine when to be serious and when to just have a little fun?  We try to look both internally and external for ideas.  Internally is easy, new people joining the team, new projects we have won and our ever expanding capabilities and product offerings are great food for thought.  External we look to industry trends, trade magazine articles and editorials.  Just for fun look for interesting or natural occurrences for ideas.  Holidays or other special events can also inspire posts and conversations.

Search engines are constantly changing the rules.  We just have to trying to stay current.  Let’s face it; we will never get out in front of the big search engines, so it’s a race to stay in a very close second.  How do you find the most relevant search terms?  What are the most critical features of your website that you update to stay on top of the search engine rankings?  It key to monitor your meta description to be sure it contains the most relevant search terms, but don’t get too wordy or you will find yourself on the outside looking in.

Hope this helps and don’t forget to add your thoughts and ideas.  After all, the new web is interactive.
