Accurate Perforating custom manufactured over 480 27” x 72”perforated panels for the Washington D.C Tenley-Friendship Library’s picturesque vertical sunscreens. The new library, designed by Freelon Architects and constructed by general contractor Forrester Construction, was created to provide a welcoming civic building that the area residents would be proud to use.

The vertical sunscreen fins were designed to shield the glass curtain walls from the sun’s glare to provide the occupants with ideal reading conditions. The orange-colored perforated sunscreen edges were aligned in vertical rows that emulate the edges of an open book’s pages. Ideal for sun control, extra thick 3/8” 3003H14 Aluminum was perforated in a .375”-by-.973” perforation pattern (pattern RST155). The material was then sent through a Herr-Voss CNC leveler to prepare the material for fabrication. The sheets were then sheared, packed, and shipped to AGS, Inc. in Mokena, Illinois for final fabrication and assembly.
