Perforated Metal in Architecture – Continuing Education Units Presentation

Designing With Perforated Metal, the first is a developing series of AIA-accredited CEU programs presented by Accurate Perforating. The program has been presented to teams of architectural professionals over the years.  The course includes an overview of how perforated metal can be used to sculpt light, control sound, compose views both indoors and out, as well as add interest as a decorative accessory.  In addition, the program covers some history of perforated metal, its uses and applications, and a tutorial on the manufacturing process.  The course concludes with a discussion of the key criteria to be considered when specifying and ordering perforated metal as well as the advantages of working with a custom perforator.

This program is registered with AIA/CES for continuing professional registration and is fully accredited by the American Institute of Architects.  Participants in the program will earn 1 Learning Unit after completion.  Accurate Perforating will manage the entire process including submitting all necessary documentation to the AIA.  If you would like to schedule a presentation either on-site or at our Chicago facility please visit our Lunch and Learn page.

AIA 2012 Recap - An exciting expo

AIA Expo 2012 has come to a close and the experience was terrific. It was great meeting everyone who stopped by our booth. For those who could not make it, we look forward to seeing you next year. This year, the traffic was better than expected based on comments from both attendees and exhibitors. Many of the conversations were about current projects and even more about others that were on the near horizon. It was a sign perhaps, if only a small one, that the economy may be finally stabilizing. Accurate Perforating gave a sneak peak of our new sunshade line as well as our new security ceiling systems. The number and variety of products on display was nothing short of impressive, from traditional building products to some of the most innovative and creative architectural ideas. One fascinating exhibit included a 3D hologram that could display a customer’s prospective project and yet another offered a virtual tour of your building through the use of special goggles. New materials and building product included a significant focus on green building concepts supporting the dedication of the architectural community toward this initiative.

The Walter E. Washington Convention Center was a great choice to host the event. It was located near a wide variety of hotels, restaurants and historical attractions, many of which were within walking distance. One evening after dinner I walked to the White House, over to the capital building and back to the Washington Monument. Amazing sites any time and even more spectacular at night. It was inspiring to be standing in the heart of the world’s greatest democracy, to see the history and appreciate the freedoms we enjoy.

Accurate Perforating is already committed to attend AIA 2013 June 20-22 in Denver, Colorado. We hope to see everyone there.

Design 2 Part 2012 show recap

Well the show is over, the results are in and in my opinion the show was a solid success. Everyone we talked to said the traffic was the best they had seen in years. The attendees we talked with had a variety of projects to discuss and real current needs. It was very encouraging to see all the manufacturers come out with such energy. We asked the question earlier; if trade shows are still valid ways to connect with customers. I believe the answer is yes. Nothing beats the face to face interaction, the ability to discuss a project, ask questions, draw up a quick sketch, to get that understanding of the customer’s needs. And to be able to do that in a quick, convenient and cost effective environment; trade shows still work. One thing that helped make this show standout was the location. With convenient access, free parking and a very professional venue. The Schaumburg Convention Center is great place to both exhibit and attend a show. I also think that attendance and activity level was a testament to the strength manufacturing, at least in this region. The United States must maintain its superiority as a world leader in manufacturing and what I saw at this show gave me hope that we are working toward that goal. Accurate Perforating has been manufacturing perforated metals for a variety of industries for over 60 years and we look forward to continuing that tradition for the next 60 and beyond.
