Add Indoor and Outdoor Beauty to Perforated Aluminum Elements

Lightweight, durable, and decorative, perforated aluminum sheet metal panels can provide the desired look and performance for a variety of purposes. Accurate Perforating has the equipment and the capabilities to punch aluminum sheets with holes in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and patterns. Whether you need to create long-lasting sunshades for an outdoor pavilion or sound-dampening acoustical tiles for a concert venue — or simply want to give the exterior of your building a unique appearance — we can make it happen. These panels offer one-of-a-kind aesthetics as well as superior qualities when compared to other types of building materials. No matter the application, Accurate Perforating can be the one-stop source for your perforated aluminum needs.

Perforated Aluminum Basics

Perforated aluminum sheet metal complements any structure and adds a visually stunning element to interiors and exteriors alike. An aluminum mesh sheet is an excellent option for designs of all types. Perforated aluminum sheet metal is a popular option, both for functional and aesthetic reasons, and the uses for perforated aluminum panels are virtually unlimited.

One of the most important qualities of these materials is that they resist corrosion caused by exposure to the elements. This means these panels can be left outside in the rain, snow, and wind with little worry about rust. In fact, aluminum becomes stronger when the temperature drops below freezing. It even withstands prolonged contact with some chemicals commonly found in outdoor environments, making it a great choice for architectural applications that require durability without sacrificing aesthetics or structural integrity. Our expertise with these materials makes it possible for us to deliver the highest-quality components for your next project. Click the image below to learn more about perforated aluminum sheets.

Commonly Used Perforated Aluminum Alloys

Common Specifications include: 1100, 2024, 3003, 3003 H-14, 5052, 6061, 6063, 7075, ASTM B209

3003 is the most popular alloy for aluminum and is typically used as a general-purpose alloy. Often, if you have ordered aluminum in the past, 3003 is what you may have received. In the architectural space, 5052 is the most common alloy that is in use today. Other alloys that can be procured are 1100, 2024, 6061, 6063, and 7075.

When should you use Which Alloy?

For most applications, 3003 will be the ideal choice. It is one of the most readily available alloys in the market so it can be easily procured. Because it’s readily available, it tends to be more cost-effective than other alloys, such as the 5XXX or 6XXX series. For architecturally exposed applications, you’ll want to go with an alloy like 5052. Anodizing is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide on the surface of metal parts. After perforated aluminum is anodized, it increases its resistance to corrosion. This is critical for any parts that will be exposed to the elements. Although many alloys can be anodized, often the results of the process are not desirable. For example, 3003 is suitable for anodizing since it has manganese in the recipe which will lead to high protection. But the process tends to leave a brown color which doesn’t work in applications such as a building façade. 5052, on the other hand, is great for anodizing! Instead of the brown color, you get a clear oxide layer, making it suitable for those architectural applications.
