LBJ Early College High School

The LBJ Early College High School, located in Austin, Texas, is part of the Austin Independent School District (AISD). The school opened in 1974 to alleviate overcrowding at nearby Northeast Early College High School (formerly Reagan High School). The campus has undergone various renovations, including remodeling science labs and maintaining a volunteer-led outdoor upkeep program. One notable feature is "The Texas," a large granite statue shaped by the state.

LBJ High School's student body is predominantly Hispanic (63.1%) and African American (33.4%), with a significant portion (73.9%) classified as economically disadvantaged. The school offers early college opportunities, enabling students to earn college credits while completing high school. The mascot is the Jaguar, and the school colors are purple and white.

The school was recently renovated architecturally, incorporating powder-coated perforated metal infill panels, stair risers, and other elements to match the school colors.  The school also features a technical education track for students interested in the trades. The trades make up most of our workforce to create applications such as lighting components.

Notable alumni include NFL players Chris Houston and Kerry Hyder and Ray Jackson, a member of the Michigan "Fab 5" basketball team.
